An executive order would circumvent Congress.
The White House is considering executive action to help small businesses by extending an expired loan relief program or providing other financial assistance.
The move would add to President Trump’s efforts to go around Congress to aid households and companies. He has also been looking at suspending payroll taxes, extending unemployment benefits, slowing evictions, and deferring student loan payments.
The structure of a small business executive action is not yet clear, but the White House could simply extend the PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) which the Small Business Administration shut down earlier this month.
The administration believes that the issuance of a small business executive order could motivate Congress to move forward on the next coronavirus relief package.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and members of his Administration looking at doing whatever they can to get the economy moving faster.
- That Congress would give more focus on the needs of Americans hurt by the ongoing coronavirus reponse.
- For owners and employees of small businesses that are struggling to reopen or to remain in existence.
